Eravikulam National park:


  • Twenty-six species of mammals can be seen here - Nilgiritahr an endangered species is the main attraction
  • Neelakurinji flower is also one of the main attraction but it blooms only once in 12 years

Cheruthony Dam:


  • 138m tall concrete gravity dam which is 2300 feet above sea level
  • Located 1km from Idukki dam
  • Activities Not allowed to take photos due to security reasons
  • Timings: 8am to 5pm

Mattupetty Dam:


  • Storage Concrete Gravity dam built in 1953
  • Mattupetty Dam along with crystal clear lake and green forests makes it scenic
  • Activities like speed boating, pedal boating can be explored here
  • Timings:9.30 AM - 5:00 PM, 11 km from Munnar town

Munnar Top station viewpoint:


  • The topmost point in Munnar- Situated 1700m from sea level
  • it offers a Panoramic view of western Ghats
  • Recommended to visit early morning to see the sunrise
  • Timings:7.00 AM - 7 PM, 35kms from Munnar town

KDHP Tea Museum:


  • Owned by tata group
  • 30 min documentary show on the history of tea plantations in Munnar and a short speech on how to prepare tea
  • Tea powder processing unit can be seen here
  • Tea powder is available for sale here
  • Timings:9 AM - 5:00 PM & closed on Mondays, 1.3kms from Munnar town

Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary


  • 28 mammals include Indian leopard,gaur, Bengal tiger,spotted deer, Indian elephant, sambar deer- 225 bird species - 52 reptile species- more than 15 species of butterflies
  • Activities include river trek, jungle trek,hiking to the watchtower
  • Timings:6 AM - 6:00 PM, 48kms from Munnar town

Wonder Valley Adventure and Amusement Park:


  • Two zones - Adventure Zone and Amusement Park Zones
  • Activities in Adventure Zone include Zip Line,rock climbing,commando net, Rappelling
  • 12D Theatre, Vortex Tunnel, Bull rider, Dashing car can be explored in Amusement Park Zone
  • Timings:8.30 AM - 6:30 PM, 14kms to Munnar town

Echo point:


  • Popular for its natural echo phenomenon.
  • One can enjoy the scenic beauty of lake here - Boating facility & kids zone are available here
  • 14kms to Munnar town

TIPS & ADVISES

  • Recommended to stay near Munnar town as it is more accessible to most of the tourist destinations
  • NeelaKurinji blooms in every 12 years - Now it’s bloomed in 2018 - the last bloom was in 2006
  • only 2 beverage outlets can be found in Munnar- No self-help counters - one may have to stand in queue to buy the liquor
  • KDHP Tea Museum is closed on all Mondays
  • Because of poor network connection, online maps are not reliable in some places, so it’s recommended to have a travel guide along with you.
  • Recommended to carry Mosquito/insect repellents, Sunscreen lotion and wear shoes while trekking
  • Not recommended to carry liquor in the vehicle since checking is very often in border check post
  • Low ground clearance vehicles are not recommended if you are planning for self-drive to all destinations as the roads are very steep.
  • You should bargain to the core if you are hiring a jeep to reach very steep tourist spots.
